Hey Nancy Drew… You mentioned in your last podcast that you’ve never found anything picnic related that might also connect to LOST. Check out the book and movie, “Picnic at Hanging Rock”. The book was written by Joan Lindsay and is about a mysterious event that happens to a group of school girls who picnic in the Australian countryside at the beginning of the 20th century. It was made into an excellent movie in the 1970’s by Peter Weir. I have loved both the book and movie for years, and I’ve often thought of it while watching LOST.
Hi Coco Ruth
I’ve actually talked about Picnic At Hanging Rock a couple of times throughout our podcast and the Black Rock podcast as I am very familiar with both the film and the book. I was thinking more along the lines of finding picnic references in religion or mythology that would fit with the looming tragedy and despair that seem to go hand-in-hand with those picnics on the show. If you find any of those, please let me know
And thanks for thinking to post the Picnic At Hanging Rock stuff.
